Dear Friends and Supporters
As you know tonight is personal for us. Last November, Paul was honored with the ACS Celebration of Life Award and shared his 2017 early cancer detection and colorectal cancer survival story so that others might be inspired to prioritize good health and preventative life-saving cancer screenings.
One month later, in December 2000, we were asked to chair the 2021 Magic of Hope Gala. As champions in the fight to end cancer we proudly accepted the honor unbeknownst as to what lie ahead. In January 2021, we learned that Paul had pancreatic cancer and on September 21, 2021, Paul endured yet another cancer surgery. Doctors recently informed us that the cancer is gone and Paul continues his road to recovery.
Twenty years ago this complex whipple surgery may not have been successful but because of continued research and medical advances doctors can now give more patients, like Paul, a fighting chance. We to call it HOPE. The Magic of HOPE.
I’m certain that almost all of you have either had cancer or known someone who has. It’s 2021 and if we can send civilians to the moon we are confident a cure is closer than we think.
So when people tell us that ACS is the number one cancer fighting organization in the nation, we look at our personal experience, nod our heads and remain grateful to the American Cancer Society for all that it does.
With your support we are hopeful that we will find a cure for cancer in our lifetime.
With much gratitude and appreciation,
Trudy Stambook & Paul Robinson
